“Family Members” refers to parents, siblings, spouses, children, cousins, and in-laws (parents, brothers and sisters).

“Close Associates” refers to individuals that are closely connected to a PEP either socially or professionally. These include friends, business partners or associates, especially those that share (beneficial) ownership of legal entities with the PEP, or who are otherwise connected (e.g., through joint membership of a company board).

“Politically Exposed Person (PEP)” means a senior government official, that is, an individual who is or has been entrusted with prominent functions in a country, for example Heads of State or of government, senior politicians, senior government, judicial or military officials, senior executives of state-owned corporations, and senior party officials as well as family members or close associates of such individuals.
